Salem nursing home gets new owner, new name

Salem News - 6/25/2019

Jun. 25--SALEM -- The Grosvenor Park Health Center has a new owner and a new name.

The nursing home on Loring Hills Avenue has been bought by Point Group Care LLC, a family-owned company based in Norwood, and its name has been changed to AdviniaCare Salem, the company announced.

Point Group Care has been running the former Grosvenor Park since October 2018, after the facility was placed into court receivership due to problems with the previous owner, Synergy Health Centers.

Point Group Care was the winning bidder in an auction for the facility last August. The sale was finalized on June 3 for $3.25 million, according to Southern Essex Registry of Deeds records. The company said the sale has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Pointe Group Care said in a press release that it has made improvements to the nursing home, including replacing furniture and repairing major equipment. It has also appointed new leadership and formed an active family council to represent residents and patients.

Paul Valentine of KCP Advisory Group, the court-appointed receiver, said his company has worked closely with Pointe Group Care on improving resident care at Grosvenor Park and Woodbriar Health Center in Wilmington, another former Synergy facility that the company purchased.

"We very much enjoyed the relationship with them and anticipate that those in the Salem and Wilmington areas will appreciate these centers being operated under the AdviniaCare banner," Valentine said in the press release.

Grosvenor Park has an overall rating of average on the federal Nursing Home Compare website. It has 123 beds and employs about 125 people.

"Our team has worked diligently to re-establish the sterling reputations of these health care centers within their respective communities," Chris Hannon, director of operations at Pointe Group Care, said in the press release. "We look forward to working closely with our partners in the communities that we are now serving in Salem and Wilmington."

Point Group Care also owns nursing homes in Brockton, Chelsea and Fall River, and plans to buy Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brewster.
