BRIEF: Larceny charge dropped against Mashpee man

Cape Cod Times - 5/24/2017

May 24--FALMOUTH -- A Mashpee man accused of taking another man's $1,000 winning lottery ticket and giving him a $600 check that later bounced had his charge dismissed in Falmouth District Court on Tuesday.

Saeed Ahmad, 62, who was working at the Sav-On gas station in Falmouth, was charged with larceny over $250 from a person older than 60 or disabled after he allegedly told a man he could not cash the winning scratch ticket, according to police reports. Ahmad told the man he would have to go to an off-Cape lottery office, even though he knew the man could not drive, reports say. Ahmad wrote the man a $600 check for the ticket, but the check later bounced.

The charge was dismissed because the victim failed to cooperate, records show.
