Students will still eat in summer school

Ottumwa Courier - 5/27/2017

May 26--OTTUMWA -- Children involved in an Ottumwa Community School District program this summer may continue to receive free lunch.

The district is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. All meals will be provided to all program children free of charge.

The district needs to issue the following for this USDA program: "Note that acceptance and participation requirements for the program are the same for all kids regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service."

Children in summer school or other official school programs, like youth care, can qualify.

Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:

Liberty/Prime Time Youth Care -- June 2 to Aug. 23

Breakfast at 8:30-9 a.m.; Lunch from 11 a.m. -- noon

Douma -- June 5-22

Breakfast at 8:45-9:15 a.m.; no lunch is being served

Ottumwa High School -- June 5-July 7

Breakfast at 8-8:30 a.m.; Lunch from 11:30 a.m. -- noon

Evans Middle School -- June 5 -16

Breakfast at 8:45-9:15 a.m.; Lunch from 11:30 a.m. -- noon

Those are for children in a district program.

At a later date, however, there will be information available on state sponsored summer food programs. Those may have different requirements.
