As part of Always There - a yearlong campaign to recognize the 50th anniversary of Ohio's County Boards of Developmental Disabilities - the Perry CountyBoard of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD), and the Academy for Leadership Abilities® (ALA) will be incorporating one of their week long service projects during the Perry County Fair at the agency booth.

One of the projects "Cool Off & Chat" is encouraging people to stop by the booth, to cool off with a free bottle of cold water while enjoying the breeze from the many fans. However, most importantly, getting to chat with the agency folks who will be greeting visitors and letting them know what we are doing around Perry County.

In addition to our "Cool Off and Chat" project, PCBDD and ALA employees will be conducting a "Food Drive" competition beginning Monday through Friday, July 17-21, to help assist Perry County Food Pantries. This project is open to anyone in the community who would like to donate nonperishable items.

Drop off at any of the following PCBDD New Lexington locations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at: Administration 499 North State St., Service and Support Administration445 West Broadway ,St. Suite C, or Help Me Grow 128 South Main St. The location that collects the most items will be recognized.

The Always There campaign marks the establishment of Ohio's 88 county boards by the Ohio General Assembly in 1967. The theme reflects the continuity of support, promotion of opportunity, and history of partnership county boards have offered to people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the past, in the present, and in the future.

"The Week of Service is an opportunity for us to say thank you and give back to residents in Perry County who have supported us and the people and families we serve for more than 50 years," said David C. Couch, PCBDD Superintendent.
