Board of DD honors supportive employers Clinton County Board of DD honors supportive local employers

The News Journal - 8/18/2017

The Clinton County Board of DD (CCBDD) hosted an Employer Recognition Luncheon to honor local employers who have provided employment opportunities to people with disabilities, served by the county board.

Twenty businesses were recognized at the Aug. 15 event — businesses that have either employed people with disabilities or hosted on-site training.

Two special awards were given to employers who have made exceptional efforts. The “Employer of the Year” award was presented to Kroger in Wilmington. Kroger has been a longtime supporter, and has employed several people with disabilities in recent years.

The “Student Advocate of the Year” award was presented to Sodexo. “Sodexo has been a wonderful support for students involved in the College Immersion program at Wilmington College, providing work experience and hiring,” said Sarah Edwards, community integration coordinator with the Board of DD.

The Clinton County Board of DD would like to thank all businesses for seeing abilities in people and for being supportive of employment and integration efforts, Edwards said.

Any businesses or organizations interested in getting involved may feel free to contact the Employment Team at CCBDD at 937-382-7519.
