Community program planned at Morrison nursing home

MORRISON ? A free community day with games, a visit by the Pink Heals National Tour, and other activities is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Sept. 24 at Resthave Home, 408 Maple Ave.

About 2:15 p.m., the Pink Heals fire truck will visit several community women. Dana Funderberg, a nurse at Resthave for more than 25 years who has recently started cancer, will be honored, as will Mindy Hagermann, Katrina Ruchotzke, and Tonia Ernst, all of Morrison, and Peggy Kuelper of Prophetstown. Five other Resthave staff and about five residents who have survived cancer also will be invited to sign the truck.

A free hog roast will take place with chips, beans, and hot dogs, while supplies last. Horseshoes, Twister, Kerplunk, musical squares, and other all-ages games will take place. A bounce house, cupcake walk, face painting, hula hoop contest also will be available.

A free bags tournament will begin at noon, with two players per team. A second round may start at 1:30 p.m. if there are few teams at noon. Registration will be open at the celebration, or can be made in advance by calling 815-535-6591.

Parking will be available at Ebenezer Church, 309 E. Park St.; Emmanuel Church, 202 E. Morris St.; and Odell Library, 307 S. Madison St., with shuttles to the nursing home.
