BRIEF: Teams raise $48,000 at Alzheimer's Walk

Moultrie Observer - 11/8/2017

Nov. 07--TIFTON, Ga. -- More than 300 residents from Tifton and surrounding counties joined the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's in the fight to end Alzheimer's disease at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. Participants raised more than $48,000 to fund Alzheimer's care, support and research programs.

"On behalf of the Alzheimer's Association and the thousands we serve, I thank the Tifton community for coming together to continue to help build awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research, care, support and advocacy efforts," said Emily Bowden, director of the Walk to End Alzheimer's. "The amount of money raised in Tifton shows that this community is in for the fight against Alzheimer's."

End Alzheimer's was the top fundraising team at this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's, raising more than $5,800. Janet Retterbush-Guerke, team captain, lost her mother-in-law to dementia.

"Let's remember those who cannot," Retterbush-Greene said. "Do not forget to give your time and resources to help combat Alzheimer's."

Donations will be accepted until Dec. 15, 2017 for the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Tifton at georgiawalk.org or call 800-272-3900.
