Prostate cancer support group to meet

The Terah Brown Pittsburgh East Chapter of Us Too Prostate Cancer Education and Support will meet at 7 p.m.Jan. 4 at Zion Lutheran Church, 11609 Franks­town Road, Penn Hills. Meetings are open to anyone in need of support or information regarding treatment facilities, doctors and where to go if a patient doesn’t have insurance coverage for prostate cancer.

Healing through art

Arlene Holtz will present “Abstract Art as a Healing Practice” at the East Suburban Artists League meeting at 6:30 p.m.Jan. 4 in Christ Lutheran Church at Route 286 and Logan Ferry Road in Murrysville.

“I will talk about how I came to choose abstract art over other styles of painting, what it means to me as an artist, and how it is a healing practice for me,” Holtz said.

In addition, she will demonstrate several small paintings while explaining her process, color and pattern selection. Guests are welcome to attend all meetings.

Model train display ends Dec. 30

Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Department Station 224’s model train display at 1002 Center Ave. is open through Dec. 30.

Hours are 6-9 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. weekends. The display is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Admission is $2; proceeds go toward improving the display and for equipment for the station.
