MURRAY HOUSE DINNER DANCE

The 48th annual dinner dance will be Feb. 18 at the Brownstone in Paterson, presented by the Murray Family and the nonprofit Department for Persons with Disabilities, based in Oak Ridge. The Murray House in Clifton is a group home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and was named in honor of Jimmy Murray.

Hawthorne Green Team

Green Lecture: Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Louis Bay 2nd Library. Robin Garmise, Certified Holistic Health Coach, will present "The Skinny on Chemicals & Weight Gain - How Everyday Products Could be Making You Fat." She will provide actionable steps on how to live a green and healthy lifestyle. Each participant that completes an evaluation form will be entered in a raffle to win a gift basket valued at $100. All are invited. Admission is free.

Friendship Circle of Passaic County

Programs for kids with special needs and their families, held at The Chabad Center of Passaic County, 194 Ratzer Road, Wayne, unless otherwise noted. For more information, visit fcpassaiccounty.com. Register for any event by calling 973-694-4970. The Friendship Circle of Passaic County offers other programs such as weekly home visits to children with special needs.

Yoga with Shirley Veale: Feb. 21, March 4 and April 8 from 11 a.m. to noon. Please bring a mat or towel to class. $5 per person per class.

Bowling League with Pizza: Feb. 25 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Garden Palace Lanes, 42 Lakeview Ave., Clifton. $10 per person.

Haledon Public School

Pre-kindergarten (pre-k) is eligible for students living in Haledon. We enroll our pre-k classes via a lottery. We will be accepting names of potential students for our lottery through Feb. 23. You may obtain a pre-k lottery enrollment form at our attendance office in our school building between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eligible lottery students must be four years old on or before Oct. 1. If your child is picked in the lottery you will receive a call the first week of March.

2018-2019 kindergarten registration: In order to be registered for kindergarten, a child must be five years of age on or before Oct. 1. There will be no exceptions made for students younger than five years old. Enrollment packets may be picked up beginning March 6. Packets can be obtained at the Attendance Office at Haledon Public School and picked up between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Sixth Avenue Bridge development

Written comments regarding the Local Concept Development Study for the Sixth Avenue Bridge over the Passaic River, between Paterson and Prospect Park and Hawthorne will be accepted through March 2. Masquerade Ball tricky tray

Haledon Public School PTA presents its Masquerade Ball tricky tray on March 7 at the Brownstone, 351 W. Broadway, Paterson. Doors open 6:30 p.m.$45, includes dinner and one sheet of tickets. County Clerk outreach

The Passaic County Clerk's office will process passport applications, and issue notary oaths and veteran's photo ID cards at the following locations and times:

Totowa Public Library: 537 Totowa Road. March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.; and March 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hawthorne Municipal Building: 445 Lafayette Ave.March 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

North Haledon Municipal Building: 103 Overlook Ave.March 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

American Labor Museum

83 Norwood St., Haledon. 973-595-7953. labormuseum.net. Exhibits, free lending library, educational and cultural programs, and guided tours are available year round. Visit Wednesday through Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

Frederick Douglass and Underground Railroad exhibit: Featuring contemporary drawings about the life of Frederick Douglass, a slave, abolitionist and statesman. The exhibit, by Mark Priest, a working artist and professor at the University of Louisville, will be on display until April 21.

Free radon test kits

The State of New Jersey has provided funds to the Passaic County Department of Health for a limited amount of free radon test kits. Passaic County homeowners can reserve a kit by calling 973-225-3651. Test kits will be available on a first come first served basis. Arrangements to pick up reserved radon test kits at the Passaic County Department of Health and a few designated municipal Health Departments will be made.

Alcoholics Anonymous Group

Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at Bridgeway Community Church, 381 Haledon Ave., Haledon. Open to anyone who wants to stop drinking.
