In Virginia, an estimated 140,000 individuals have Alzheimer's disease and more than 450,000 caregivers provide care for them.

Without volunteers, we would not be able to further our mission to provide care and support to those who need it, fund research or grow understanding of the disease.

I am writing to express great appreciation for our ambassadors who speak up for the needs of people affected by Alzheimer's disease; our volunteer community speakers and new Early Stage Program & Awareness Advisory group members who raise awareness to grow understanding of the disease; volunteer support group facilitators; volunteer leaders for The Longest Day and Walk to End Alzheimer's, student interns and volunteer office support. All of them help further our mission to provide care and support, promote brain health and drive research toward treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure.

Our volunteers realize the movement to end Alzheimer's disease starts in our backyard and stretches around the world.
