'Street Eats' festival set for April 21 at J.D. McCarty Center

Daily Oklahoman - 4/11/2018

April 11--NORMAN -- A food truck festival is set for April 21 at the J.D. McCarty Center for children with developmental disabilities.

The "Street Eats" festival will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the center, 2002 E Robinson St. The event will feature 12 food trucks from the metro area, live music, crafts, face painting and an inflatable for kids. Activities also include an open house and tours of Camp ClapHans, the center's summer camp program.

"Street Eats" is hosted by the center's occupational therapy department to celebrate "National Occupational Therapy Month." This is the third year the department has hosted the festival.

"I'm really excited for this year," said Jenny Hughes, event coordinator and a certified occupational therapy assistant at the center. "We have a lot of new trucks and new family-friendly activities."

The event is also an opportunity to raise awareness about occupational therapy, as well as programs offered at the McCarty Center, Hughes said.

The McCarty Center specializes in the care and treatment of children with developmental disabilities from birth to age 21. The center provides medical care and physical, occupational, speech and language therapy for children on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
