Power outage pushes Access Lynx 30 minutes behind schedule

Orlando Sentinel - 8/17/2018

Aug. 17--A power outage, blamed on a construction project on John Young Parkway, has caused a 30-minute delay for Access Lynx, a door-to-door transportation service for people unable to use the regular bus service because of a disability or other limitations.

Lynx spokesman Matt Friedman said the public transportation service was aware of the delays, which he blamed on the loss of power to Lynx' main programming system.

He said power has been restored, but the service is not yet back on schedule.

"We are doing everything we can to get back on schedule," he said in an email.

The Access Lynx para-transit program provides more than 2,100 scheduled passenger trips each weekday, using a variety of vehicles equipped for individuals with various disabilities.

Demand for these special transit services is high, according to Lynx' website.
