BRIEF: Tornado that blew roof off of Pa. nursing home classified as E-F2

Oct. 03--A tornado that blew the roof off a nursing home in Crawford County on Tuesday has been classified by the National Weather Service after preliminary investigation.

Those preliminary findings indicate the tornado had estimated peak winds at 115 mph, classifying the tornado as an E-F2.

It made initial touchdown at 2:33 p.m. and had a width of 50 yards, but the path length has not yet been determined. One injury was reported.

Tornado surveys are planned across the county on Wednesday.

A National Weather Service meteorologist told ABC27 that the Rolling Fields Elder Care Community was hit by a tornado around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Rolling Field posted multiple statements to their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon, stating residents and employees were being evacuated.
