Woman with dementia reported missing

Dec. 1—A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Kings Mountain woman.

The plea to the public was issued Tuesday afternoon for 61-year-old Ida May Burris who suffers from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, according to Kings Mountain Police.

Burris was last seen in the area of Chesterfield Court apartments in Kings Mountain wearing a white T-shirt, gray jogging pants, a white ski cap and black shoes. She is a black woman who is 5-foot, 9-inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.

The Kings Mountain Police Department said in a press release that it's important she is located as soon as possible.

To help protect individuals who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairment, North Carolina developed the Silver Alert program to quickly locate missing persons who may be endangered.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Sgt. Alexander with the Kings Mountain Police Department at 704-734-0444.
